Nivo developments
Ndiyo has been evaluating a variety of low-cost thin-client hardware solutions over the last few years. All of our installations so far have been based around the Nivo (Network-In-Video-Out) hardware created by Newnham Research. We have been privileged to have early access to this technology which is ideal for our use, but with early access comes uncertainty about the nature and timing of full-scale availability. We're in encouraging discussions with Newnham Research about securing ongoing supplies of their technology in a form suitable for Ndiyo's use in the coming year, and hope to be able to make some announcements soon. We are grateful to Newnham for their ongoing support, for example in the Bangladesh/South Africa installations mentioned in a previous bulletin.
It's also important that as an independent non-profit organization we maintain an open mind and do not tie ourselves too closely to any given vendor or solution. We are therefore entering into active discussions with other hardware suppliers and are keen to evaluate any thin client technology which meets our price & performance requirements.
